Marquette University PAtron: the blessed Elder Aimilianos of simonopetra

The Blessed Elder Aimilianos of Simonopetra was the abbot of that monastery of Mt Athos and the founder of the largest women’s monastery in Greece, the Monastery of the Annunciation in Ormylia. He was the Elder of Archbishop Alexander who taught at Marquette for over 20 years. While he is not yet canonized, he is widely venerated, and an inspiring source of teachings on the spiritual life.

University of Wisconsin Milwaukee patron: St Porphyrios of Kavsokalyvia

St. Porphyrios was a great ascetic saint of our time, who ministered much of his life in Athens. He worked many miracles by the grace of God. His works are recorded, and many of his counsels and teachings have been published. He is a great saint who teaches us to love God with all our heart and soul.

Campus Ministry: Confession, Catechesis, spiritual Counsel

Fr Elijah is available to meet with students on an individual basis for Confession, spiritual discussions, or catechesis (study of basic teachings) for those who are interested in learning more about the Orthodox faith, and for those who might be interested in joining the Orthodox Church.

Saints Cyril and Methodius—ministering to Milwaukee’s campuses for decades

Priests from our parish have been ministering to the Marquette and UWM campuses since the 1980’s. During the period from 1989-2012, Fr. Alexander Golitzin, attached to SS Cyril and Methodius, taught at Marquette in the Theology Department and attracted many students, some from abroad, before being consecrated Archbishop for the Diocese of Toledo, and later also of Diocese of Dallas. Fr. Elijah Mueller, the present pastor of SS Cyril and Methodius, is a graduate of both UWM and Marquette, a former doctoral student of Archbishop Alexander, and a former president of the OCF at these campuses, is now the Chaplain for both campuses and for the colleges in Milwaukee.
